Butter Chicken from the Slow Cooker

Ingredients

  • 2 onions
  • 600 grams chicken breast
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons garlic puree (or powder)
  • 2 tablespoons ginger puree (or 30g fresh ginger, chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato sauce
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 120 ml water
  • Rice
  • Naan bread (1 per person)

For the spices:

  • 2 tablespoons paprika powder
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • Black pepper to taste

To add later to the sauce:

  • 50g butter
  • 50g yogurt

Preparation

Chop the onions and sauté them until translucent.

Add the tomato paste, garlic puree, and ginger.

Mix the ingredients for the spices.

Add the spices, tomato sauce, tomatoes, and water, and let simmer for a while.

Blend the mixture into a smooth sauce with a blender.

Place the chicken in the slow cooker.

Pour the sauce over the chicken in the slow cooker and cook on high for 2-3 hours.

Stir the butter and yogurt into the sauce.

Cook the rice in a rice cooker according to the instructions.

Serve with coriander and naan bread.
